Painting again: Odds and Ends

Greetings Gentle Readers,

Not much to report other than painting is progressing on a number of fronts:

Just completed the Sarissa Steam Launch for a planned Indian Mutiny skirmish. I am working up some of Warbase's/TFL's garden structures for Bolt Action in Normandy. There is an X-wing miniature undergoing a repaint, plus a Red Box fantasy figure who (as Hereward the Wake) will lead my doughty Saxons against the Norman invaders, probably using Lion Rampant.

As regards the painting area as a whole, I may be extending it upwards to accommodate all the little bits and pieces that accumulate on the paint table, plus the tools that are currently hidden below the table in a sizeable toolbox - I find myself continually stopping to grab this tool or that tool which then lurks on the desk for days! Add in all the various putties, fillers etc and a few of these from Ebay seem quite a good idea:

A few of these would also increase the fort-like aspect of the painting area thus enabling me to withstand sieges and sorties from daily life, making me feel more secure and comfortable and relaxed - which after all are three excellent reasons for having a hobby in the first place.

Until next time...

Charity Auction and Warlord Sherman Completed

Greetings Gentle Reader,

My first charity auction has finished , I will cover the P&P so you raised over £60, so thanks to all involved. The donation will go to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation as planned. Next time I hope to solicit painted figures from some of you talented bloggers out there, and raise even more funds. You have been warned!

Meanwhile I have been putting together Warlord's plastic Sherman Tank, As noted on other blogs it is slightly smaller than its resin predecessor. It is a neat little kit though, and very simple to build. The only fiddly bit was the gun mantlet, but that was my fault as I had it upside down!

The plastic tub holds lead shot to weight the tank down.

I also built Crusader's delightful anti-tank gun for my US Army. I can thoroughly recommend this.

Charity Auction Finishing Sunday Night!

Hi All,
Just a quick post for two reasons:

1) To remind you all that the Charity Auction of painted miniatures finishes on Sunday night (22nd) in case you want to put in a last-minute bid (I am selling on ebay as Markham888); and

2) To thank all those who've bid so far. You have all been very generous and your bids will go towards a great cause - The Sophie Lancaster Foundation. Your bids will also qualify for Gift Aid, meaning they will be bumped up by 25% by HM Government (that's them paying the extra, not you)!

Note that if you win more than one auction please pay the invoice as you receive it, and I will refund you the difference in postage the same evening. Good Luck and Thank You!

Charity Auction on Ebay

Greetings Gentle Readers,

The great wargaming spring-clean continues apace and I will have a heap of stuff to sell from March 22nd. In the meantime I will be running a small charity auction this coming week in aid of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

For those who aren't aware, Sophie was murdered in 2007 aged just 20 - kicked and stamped to death by a group of mindless thugs because of her goth appearance. Her boyfriend was also badly beaten in the attack.

Sophie Lancaster
Her mother Sylvia has since set up the foundation to combat intolerance and hate crime at a grass-roots level - speaking at schools and colleges, and campaigning for changes in the way the law recognises sub-cultures. The foundation does superb work in Sophie's memory, as can be seen here. In 2014 Sylvia Lancaster received the OBE in recognition of her efforts.

Numerous musicians have also supported the foundation, or commemorated Sophie in music, notably Delain's excellent 'We are the Others'.

Anyway the following items will be available to bid on from tomorrow at 7pm GMT, and will be available on Ebay sites worldwide. Please let me know if you can't see them on your particular Ebay site: My seller name is Markham888.

Note that all auctions will start at 99 pence to encourage bidding and will end on Sunday 29th March. All proceeds will go to the foundation.

Painted and generously donated by Roy Williamson.

All being well, I hope to make this an annual event, and I may attempt to solicit painted offerings from all you painters who would like to help the work of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation!

NOT Paint Table Saturday

So - Because of the big wargaming springclean, I haven't made any progress on the painting front, so for the first time in ages I won't be posting on Paint Table Saturday.

In the meantime I am amassing all the items I plan to ebay in March: Weighing, photographing, etc in order to get the postage costs correct.

I will be scheduling everything I put on to run for a week and finish on the evening (GMT) of Sunday March 29th. Therefore instead of a proper painting post this week I am unashamedly showing off just some of the goodies I will be ebaying!

Something for everybody I'm sure you'll agree! I am on ebay as Markham888 if you wish to bid.
